This beauty is looking for her forever home. A blue carpenter bee, painted from my personal specimen collection, is a little cutie in person. The background is gilded in composition gold leaf on a 4x4 canvas with black background. The Blue bee is painted from observation using interactive acrylic paint so that the shimmer from the gilded background shines lightly through the delicate wings.
